We heard the rumors for months that the Facebook wants to monetize Whatsapp by running advertisements( Whatsapp Ads). Now it’s confirmed by the Vice-president of Whatsapp.

Chris Daniels, Vice president of Whatsapp, on Wednesday, confirmed that whatsaap will be going to run the Advertisement. These ads will be going to run in the “status section” of the app. This helps the business to target more consumers.

Whatsapp is the world’s biggest messaging application, it has more than 1.2 billion users in all over the world and more than 200 million users in India. Whatsapp was established by Brian Acton in 2009 from that point forward WhatsApp is an Ad-free platform. However, things started changing after Facebook acquired it in 2014 for $19 Billion.

These ads will be run by Facebook and Facebook will charge companies for running ads on the Whatsapp. They didn’t confirm the date but it’s reported that Whatsapp is currently been testing by some companies. So, this feature may arrive early next year.

It’s not clear now, that how ads will going to be run on the Whatsapp, but it’s reported that it will be run on the Target based on users interest. Facebook wants to generate revenue from the WhatsApp as  Whatsapp has a huge user base and these ads will gonna help the Whatsapp to earn the huge amount. These ads also help the startup to target more users.

Chris was talking on the sidelines of the stage’s association with Invest India to advance Indian new companies. WhatsApp will offer $250,000 to five new businesses through the ‘WhatsApp StartUp Challenge’.

Brian Acton, Founder of Whatsapp, told the Forbes that Mark Zuckerberg was in a hurry to profit from the messaging services. “Targeted advertising is what makes me unhappy,”. Brian Acton left the Facebook in September 2017.
